Respirator Fit Testing

The Occupational Safety General Regulations of Nova Scotia state in Section 13:

"Respiratory hazard
13 (1) Where a person is exposed to a respiratory hazard that may cause injury or disease, an employer shall provide and ensure the use of adequate respiratory protective equipment that is appropriate to the hazard."

Proper fit testing is essential to a worker's respiratory protection. This course will teach students the essentials of respirator fit testing including: requirements for a tight seal, maintenance and limitations of respirators, filtration mediums, negative and positive fit testing and proper storage of equipment.
